!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Due to a calendar mistake on behalf of sojubar the following date is cancelled and will be postponed to another date !!!!!!!!!!!

Some fresh new ingredients were brought back from an extensive digging-trip in Brazil and the next Fried Tofu dinner is about to happen.

This one will be seasoned with the flavour of the famous brasilian beans and other tropical delicacies. On this occasion Constantin Groll (I Feel This) from Hamburg is joining in. As he is also musically and familiarly connected to Brasil, he is the perfect one to take part and make this one a really special night. Thanks for coming Mate!

Jamie and Zernell dropped awesome chicago classics at Oye Records yesterday. This gave a hint to what will happen tonight at Sojubar. The stars seem to be right, as today a solar eclipse could be seen. So let the Angry Chicken out of the coop and get down tonight at Sojubar.

Before Jamie kicks things off in Sojubar, the guy deserves a proper musical introduction. First we like present a Pt. 1 & 2 of a recording at the DeepHousePage Party in Brooklyn NYC which kept our headphones busy for a long time. You’ll hear some classics, some forgotton gems, something for the disco lovers and more for the house heads. Just the right mixture and the smell of thick sweat is all over.

Jamie 3:26 hits Berlin

This one’s gonna be special! Fried Tofu is very proud to present Chicago’s legendary Jamie 3:26. The true heads already know, but for all who haven’t heard about him yet, be sure not to miss this one! Spinning records since the mid 80ies this guy really knows how to work a crowd. It’s gonna be hot and if you’re not comfortable with sweat, POOR YOU!

Jamie’s one of the musical son’s of the Chicago house music scene that is closely associated to the energy and DJ-ing style of the Music Box, as his artist name ‘3:26’ a reference to the Box’s physical address ‘326 North Michigan’ suggests.

Over the years, Jamie has earned himself a good reputation through collaborations with prolific producers like Marshall Jefferson, Chip E. Anthony Nicholson, Glen Underground, Boo Williams and Paul Johnson. His latest releases & the Basement Edits series have appeared on the ParteHardy Records label as well as Strobelight Honey , which all sold out in a matter of days.

As far as residencies go, Jamie 3:26 has played Chicago hot-spots such as The Basement, The Concrete Jungle, Red No. 5 and Boom Boom Room, all being well-regarded hot spots in the Windy City. Driven by the desire to allow people to loose themselves on the floor and forget their problems, Jamie keeps his irons in the fire and we are glad to have him over!

Jamie will hit Sojubar on Friday Nov 25th and will head on to Hamburg the next day.

Skylevel 03

Following the first two fulminant releases, the Skylevel Crew comes up with another brilliant gem. SQ 101 merges the love sensation vocals with other familiar ingredients to create a stunning, powerful cut. But instead of giving in to the temptation of the highly emotional vocal and creating an all-out cheesy version, the built up tension dissolves into incredibly smooth grooves. On the B-side Skylevel themselves step in with a maniac guitar drivin edit. The soundtrack-like cut makes you feel like being on a wild car chase and is far beyond the norm. The release is topped off by a bluesy stomper of Fried Tofu’s Anson. This one provides straight talk from an accomplished man and with the thick foundation of rollin drums and tight bass it really comes in like a mighty strom.

This year saw god taking home some artists we really loved, admired and appreciated. Loleatta Holloway, Mr. Darryl ‘Love Can’t Turn Around’ Pandy, Nickolas Ashford and Supermax’ Kurt Hauenstein will all be missed alot. Also Dan Sicko will be remembered forever for his selfless contribution to tell the real story of detroit techno. No need to make comparisons, and while surely every one of them deserves a tribute, next sunday’s J.A.W. party starts out with the celebration of the life of Mr. Gil Scott-Heron. While ‘The Revolution Will Not Be Televised’, ‘The Bottle’ and ‘We Almost Lost Detroit’ are well in mind, the list of lesser known gems is long as well. So who better to provide the music for this than Chicago’s own Sadar Bahar and Sound Signature’s Theo Parrish? They already hit it off in march and will get together this time in loving memory of Mr. Gil Scott Heron. Not to be missed!

You might have smelled a scent from the kitchen already, and yes you are right. FT02 is almost ready for being served. Some testpressings just arrived and got stamped diligently. Sound was just alright and the vinyl press machine will soon be warmed up for pressing of the goodies.
